Demand-Side Energy Management in Smart Buildings: A Case Study

نویسندگان

چکیده

Electrical energy is indispensable in our daily life with the developing technology. The most important feature reliable and sustainable transmission of electrical to consumers provide supply-demand balance real-time. ever-increasing demand for gradual depletion traditional resources used meet increasing dependence on foreign sources resulted diverse electricity generation plants. As a result this diversity, increase importance storage systems awareness energy-saving, Demand Side Management (DSM) gains great ensuring balance. DSM reduces costs by scheduling consumption instead supply demand. Residences constitute large part worldwide so applications buildings efficient usage energy. Various management strategies can be save depending building type. In article, firstly, an overview Energy System (EMS) efficiency presented. Then case study carried out residential model Matlab/Simulink environment. devices were controlled Fuzzy Logic Controller (FLC) taking into account comfort, cost, Response (DR). addition, Renewable Resources (RES) demonstrate their contribution modeled integrated system. Case studies conducted comparative analysis obtained results was out.

Demand Side Management in Smart Buildings Using KNX/EIB

This paper aims to present the development, design and analysis of a control scheme named Thermal Model Predictive Control for Demand Side Management Cooling Strategies. The control is implemented on a building in Athens whose thermal model is derived using the Finite Difference Calculation Method. The development and testing of the thermal model is implemented on-line while the predictive cont...

Smart Energy: Electricity Usage and Demand-Side Management in Households

Household electrical energy consumption represents a major chunk of the total demand. This demand is also exhibiting steady increase whereas supplies are struggling to keep up. This poses two key challenges to Demand-Side Management (DSM) – achieving unrealized energy savings and, reducing peak loads. Energy saving in households has not yet achieved its potential chiefly because of poor feedbac...

A two-step approach to energy management in smart micro-grids aimed at improving social welfare levels and the demand side management effect

Demand-side management is one of the ways to create interaction between the microgrid and increase consumer participation in management schemes. Different algorithms and strategies have been used to execute consumption management programs that often covering a limited number of loads in several specific types. In this paper, first, the load shift method as an optimization problem to reduce syst...

Load Management in Multi-energy Buildings: a Simulation Case Study

This paper presents a comprehensive approach about energy resources management in buildings connected to the electricity grid and equipped with energy production and storage systems. The aim of the work is to find interesting configurations that favour energy self-consumption while minimizing the impact of the local production on the grid. Energy and economic criteria are proposed to evaluate t...

Demand Side Management in Tropical Island Buildings. Elaboration of Global Quality Standards for Natural and Low Energy Cooling in Buildings

Electric load profiles of tropical, subtropical and some Mediterranean islands in developed countries are characterised by morning/midday and evening peaks arising from all year round (tropical) and summer (subtropical/mediterranean) high power demand in the commercial and residential sectors, due mostly to air conditioning appliances and bad thermal conception of the building. The work present...
